Crystalline glazes are a true wedding of chemistry and art! Nature and Science are magical!
They are formed when Zinc and Silica are supersaturated at the top temperature (2350 cone 10)and then nucleate on little imperfections in the clay. They grow for as much as 24 hours in the cooling cycle until about 1500 F when they are frozen in the now solid glaze.
They are food, dishwasher and microwave safe. Each leaf is hand crafted and crystal formations are unique so each piece is one of a kind.
